How did Open Latin America come to be?

With over twenty years of expertise, Open Latin America emerges as a manifestation of a commitment to enhance existing knowledge and strives to become the leader in the field.

We realised the untapped potential of a region where regulatory frameworks are loosening, the population is rising in number and capabilities and where the desire for foreign investment will become a trend for upcoming governments. With that in mind, and wishing to help foreign companies as well as those already established in Latin American nations, we felt the need to create an enterprise allowing others to tap into the potential we discovered many years ago.

Open Latin America (OpenLat) was founded by Marco A. Rodriguez, CEO and Partner of ASTAP — a leading industrial representation and distribution company based in Ecuador.

With over 25 years of hands-on experience representing top-tier industrial multinationals in the water, oil & gas, energy, environment, and industrial equipment sectors, Marco brings something most consultants cannot offer: he has not only advised companies on how to enter Latin America — he has done it himself, as distributor, representative, and commercial operator on the ground.

OpenLat was created to make that experience available to international companies serious about the region — helping them avoid costly mistakes, find the right partners, and build a sustainable commercial presence in Ecuador and Latin America.
